Congratulations to 17 year old Learn to Read student Joy who has put in two very solid months of reading studies. It shows. When she came to the Center for Adult Learning her test levels were approaching 6 on the TABE, a Test of Adult Basic Education. Today Learn to Read Instructor and Student Advisor Larissa Buchholz re-TABED Joy. “I’m ecstatic,” Joy said by phone to her mother who was waiting nervously at home. Her reading scores have improved to 9.3.
Larissa says it is unusual to see this much progress in such a short period. “Dedicated students who work both the Computer Lab and Online Computer Programs from home are getting very good results,” said Larissa.
Joy has hopes of entering the GED Academy and then entering the Culinary Arts program at FSCJ. Next up on this road is the Social Studies segment of the GED which Larissa will help her prepare for. Good luck and congratulations to student and teacher!
