Hidden and Shared Reading Problems

We all know people who struggle quietly with challenges that they would rather no one else knows about. On occasion, we get to see some of these people learn something about the problem (either it's common or there's a solution...). It is heroic how they come out like prize fighters to welcome others from the shadows into the daylight.

Sharon Jaskula shared with me the somewhat dated links here and here about Toni Cordell - a woman who hid her literacy issue for 35 years, discovered how to overcome it, and was overjoyed at the possibilities in store for others. Her home page is here. It's a great story of one woman's achievement.
